Mac(Kenzie) has arrived!!!

and I've been busy for the last 2 days trying to get my emails configured onto it....which as been a little 'challenging' for a technogeek like myself!

still working my way round the various different software packages, shortcuts, layouts etc...but, so far...LOVING IT!

such high resolution on my images/photos....just a tiny bit more 'paperwork' homework to do for uni (powerpoint presentation work) and then I can get back down to the practical stuff!...watch this space....

End of term break continues...as does the waiting...

Still waiting for my Mac to arrive...seems like AGES ago I ordered it, but has only been a week. Due to some of the upgrades/customisations I wanted, it has been a little delayed, but I know its on its way now. Figured out a round about way of getting my powerpoint presentation done...a trip to the 'old folks' to put the disc with the original on, onto my Mum's laptop, who then attached it in an email to me...
I've also managed to get Microsoft office onto Sammy as well, so this year's presentation is nearly sorted...just some tweeking to do. I've also managed to get my printer driver onto Sammy - via the internet...so at least now I can print as well...its not that all this has been difficult, its been resonably straight forward, once you figure out a way round the problem...but it has been incredibly time consuming...was looking forward to having a least a week of chilling out (my brain feels completely fried) but that hasn't really happened.
Although, the weather has been fantastic here, so have spent quite a bit of time pottering in my small and completely decked garden, sowing seeds into pots (my mixed salad leaves have already germinated!)...so, I have actually taken some time out of all things 'arty' for a few hours!
But just to keep my eye on the 'art' ball, I have done one very small drawing/sketch of my 'work in progress' idea....

Highs and lows of student life

Finally managed to get the dissertation and the professional practise unit handed in on Thursday - phew!! what a relief that was!!! neither are brilliant but they are done. Settled into a morning of taking photos of 'works in progress' ready for powerpoint presentation...only to download the images onto the laptop and for the laptop to die!! THANK GOD it happened an hour AFTER the big hand-in!!!...however, the relaxing Easter break hasn't happened as I frantically arranged for all the work to be salvaged onto an external hard-drive (I had backed up a lot of my stuff, but not all...).
I am also now the proud owner of 'Sammy' (my itty bitty Samsung notebook), which is going to tide me over until I purchase 'Mackenzie' (a Macbook), which I am buying because every one who has one, raves over 'Macs' and I'm a little disappointed that the HP laptop I had only lasted 18 months (broken graphic card that made more than 1 person wince when I told them what was wrong!)
Only problem now is - that I only have a limited trial of 'word/excel/powerpoint' on Sammy, and as it has no disc drive, I can't download my Microsoft Office disc onto in...the homework shall have to be very well planned before I use the trial time up on producing the presentation ready for our return to Uni in 2 weeks (I also hadn't quite managed to download last years presentation from disc to the laptop before it broke...so now that version is trapped on a disc which I can't access anymore as I don't have a disc drive!!!! gggrrr)....hopefully the Apple store will sort me out successfully and on time when I phone them tomorrow!
